The Appeal
While Monark are better known today for their exceptional Swedish bicycles, their post-war product range included a range of motorcycles, scooters and mopeds. They saw a lot of success with it, too - plenty of races and off-road trials saw Monark taking home trophies galore.
Monark's key practice was using engines built in other countries - not only reducing their own manufacturing costs, but often reducing the price of their bikes, too. M200 is a great example, making use of a robust, simple engine from ČZ A.S - a lightweight 125cc two-stroke engine that offered perky, reliable, if not particularly trailblazing, performance.
This example comes to us with a lived-in patina that creates a real post-war charm. Lightweight, spindly and utterly characterful, we've no doubt this bike will charm anybody after a classic mount.
