The Appeal

In the immediate post war years Vanden Plas built three 12/70 Alvis tourers. This beautiful TA14 carefully replicates their svelte bodywork. Since none of the originals survive, it is a unique car, a very special piece of Alvis history and a stylish and usable classic car.
The restoration work was begun in 1983 but only completed in 2006, involving two well regarded vintage restorers. It covered the conversion to aluminium Vanden Plas bodywork and an interior retrim. The ash frame was replaced.  Since then it has been very sparingly used - covering just 1,000 miles in the last eight years - and so remains in very good order.
The condition has been helped along by ongoing investment, including new tyres, stainless steel fuel tank, radiator, carpets, brake upgrades, new clutch and engine and gearbox mounts.
This is a unique opportunity to own a piece of British motoring history. It is a lovely car that combines classic charm with a unique twist.
