The Appeal

The simply named 9A is that very British of sports cars form the immediate pre and post-war eras. Namely, a simple two-seater designed to make any drive, long or short, rain or shine, pure fun.
That it still does explains the enduring appeal of these pretty, rare cars. This one looks very smart in cream with red leather cabin. It was restored some years ago and remains in very good order thanks to the care of its previous long term keeper. The current one has kept up the good work, investing £7,000 across the car since late 2022 via a specialist restorer.
This is a very early 9A - one of only 433 built in 1946/7 - and now sports a larger 1,047cc Singer 10 engine to help it keep up with modern traffic, The gearbox has been upgraded too to ease driving.
It really is very lovely, the aesthetics helped by a retrimmed interior, new hood and tonneau and five new Avon tyres. The displayed mileage of under 40,000 miles is reported to be genuine and we are told the car runs exceptionally well. It has been regularly displayed at local shows and is sure to attract attention wherever the new buyer goes too.
The vendor writes:
“This car is excellent to drive. It is rare and a beautiful example of a vintage sports car. The white body and red leather look superb. It has incredibly low mileage and this is reflected in the condition of the interior of the car. The original service manual and many other maintenance books are supplied, together with several boxes of spare parts. It comes with 7 boxes of spares, including the original gearbox.”
