The Appeal
The post-war Roadmaster is one of Detroit’s design gems. Penned by Harley Earle, it is a masterpiece of a design economy but with some neat detailing. The two-door Sedanet Coupe is perhaps the most beautiful version.
According to the seller, this black 1947 car began its life in the EU, later spending time in Colombia and retaining registration plates from that country. Reported to be a matching numbers car displaying a low - but unverified - mileage it is now back in Europe with all duties paid.
The condition inside and out is impressive. It looks very stylish, the black paintwork accenting the bright chrome and complemented by a handsome grey fabric interior. We know that these purposeful cars are popular with collectors and this one looks tempting.

The Mechanics
- Fireball 320CI 5,247cc straight eight developing 140bhp
- 3spd manual gearbox with column shift
- Vendor reports that the car is matching numbers
- The vendor informs us that the vehicle is in fine fettle mechanically
The ‘Fireball’ straight eight under the bonnet of this characterful classic is well named. For a 1946 car its 140bhp was a hefty output, in this car matched to a 3spd manual gearbox. The displayed mileage is a low 76,549 km and we are told that this car is matching numbers.
The vendor reports that the car is in good mechanical condition.
