The Appeal
Launched in 1946, the MK VI was to be the first post-war car from Bentley. As Britain was in the early stages of economic recovery, so it was recognised that even the well-to-do would likely lack the funds to engage a coachbuilder. Therefore the MK VI and it's Rolls-Royce sibling the Silver Dawn were the first cars to come from Crewe to feature all-steel coachwork.
This 1947 example stands out for its meticulous maintenance record during long-term current ownership, having been cherished and judiciously maintained by the same family for seventeen years.
The vendor tells us:
"The car has been stored in a dry garage through all our ownership, was used for occasional weddings and was serviced every year. Recent work included a full engine rebuild including new pistons and the head work included new valve stem oil seals etc , also a new clutch was fitted at this time.
"It drives extremely well with a smooth gear change and the engine pulls great. We have enjoyed this car for seventeen years and want it to go to a good home that it deserves."
