The Appeal

Originally known for producing some of the world’s finest firearms, Austrian manufacturer Steyr diversified into automobile production in 1915. The 220 model was introduced in 1937 - effectively an evolved, larger-displacement evolution of the six-cylinder 120 that had debuted three years prior. For its time, this was a high-performance vehicle, boasting four-wheel independent suspension, and a lightweight, rigid chassis.

Factor in that beautiful, flowing bodywork, and this was a truly handsome motor - a car that boasted a distinctly luxurious character, flowing like a stream and packed with a 2.3L six-pot powerplant that could propel it to a blistering (for the period) 75mph.
This particular 1939 car comes to us in fine order, with an attractive two-tone red livery perfectly complementing that legendarily sleek shape. We understand it's in fine order, and a rare groove to boot - a scarce 5,900 were constructed, and we expect there are very few left out there.
