The Appeal

Introduced in 1938 - poor timing by multiple metrics - the Rover 14 'P2' showcased the steady development the British marque was offering for the medium-sized family car market. The 14s had proven very popular, and the P2 was their ultimate development before WW2 put a spanner into the works. Don't let that fool you, though - these cars were influential, and their presence could still be felt in the Rover line-up right up until the 50s.

With their newly developed bodywork (that offered gentle hints of streamlining), larger engine and auto-lubricating chassis, the P2 was a pretty advanced saloon for its era and was primarily offered for the well-to-do who wanted a daily driver with easy maintenance. These days, its pre-war lines are unmistakable, and it carries a stately nature to it that's hard to ignore.

This example has been with the same family for over forty years. Fully restored in 1986 by the vendor's father, it's been beautifully looked after. The car has had a regular regime of being started and moved every week since its restorer's passing, and has a long history of appearing at car shows and rallies.

If that's not enough to attract you, it's also supplied with its original toolkit and a rare, period radiator muff!
