HIGHLIGHTS
- A beautiful and distinguished 1930’s Daimler
- Superb restored coachwork
- Reupholstered interior
- Quality mechanicals and advanced features
- Very reliable and competent in modern traffic
THE APPEAL
Described in the Daimler sales literature as a ‘light Limousine’, the distinguished EL24 is naturally very comfortable, pleasant to drive and handles surprisingly well.
Produced with Daimler’s own body or as a chassis for bespoke coachwork, this exquisite and underrated vintage motor car is clearly good value for money compared to a Rolls-Royce or Bentley, while boasting the same level of craftmanship and comfort.
Having been restored in the past, this beautiful well cared for example has nicely preserved black and Ivory coachwork, a stunning retrimmed interior and reliable mechanicals.
With a 3.3-litre engine, 4-speed Wilson pre-select gearbox and fluid flywheel, this Daimler is quite spritely, making progress with other traffic easy with an ideal cruising speed of 50 mph.
Superb original features include servo-assisted brakes, a built-in jacking system, chassis lubrication system (disconnected), and self cancelling semaphore indicators.
The unique quality of the engineering and the elegance of the Daimler makes this vehicle stand out and it draws a smile and a wave wherever it goes.

The owner’s research reveals that in 1968 DBY 379 was owned by a gentleman in Surrey who had four Daimler’s. Along with another EL24, it was laid up for some time until his son-in-law and brother-in-law restored it during the early 1980’s.
Sometime in the late 1990’s it was purchased by the EL24 Registrar of the Daimler and Lanchester Owner’s Club from another member of the DLOC. With the extensive knowledge that came with owning other EL24’s, he completed a ground-up restoration to bring the car into the condition you see it today.
Around 2007, the car passed on to a gentleman in Telford, eventually arriving in the capable hands of the current owner in January 2010. Unfortunately the history file from the late ’90’s onwards was lost at this time and never received by the current owner.
A vintage and classic car enthusiast, the owner has enjoyed driving DBY 379 to rallies and shows including trips to Brooklands and Goodwood, as well as family trips and the odd wedding. He has also enjoyed working on the car, carrying out the maintenance and appreciating the build quality and amazing features.
