The Appeal
Many British cars of the 1930’s can be considered a little underpowered when compared to their US equivalents due in no small part to the ‘horsepower tax’ that was in place at the time. With a powerful six-cylinder petrol engine, the Chrysler Kew Six, which was sold in the UK, was a very different proposition.
This car started its life out in Canada and was acquired by the current custodian’s father in 1981. 18 years later in 1999, a comprehensive restoration was complete including a re-spray, engine and gearbox rebuild and an interior overhaul.
Having covered just 720 miles since completion, it is still in lovely condition. With its big engine, this pre-war beauty is more capable on the road than many cars of the period. If you want a usable Vintage car that’s ready to go, then get your bid in now.

The Interior
• Interior re-trimmed during restoration
• An eclectic mix of watch-like analogue dials, wood, and leather
• Amazing overall condition
Presented in great condition the interior of this Kew 6 is the place to be on a long trip. With all the seats finished in beautiful cream leather with contrasting blue carpets, it just oozes sophistication.
The wooden dash is in great condition and features gauges look like they have been crafted by a Swiss watchmaker, with beautifully gilded numbers set against the silver metal binnacle.

The leather bench seats do show some signs of use with some marks here and there, but this should not detract from the experience of driving the car from what feels like a sofa. With these bright cream seats and a vast number of windows in the cabin, it has a light and airy feel to it, unlike many pre-war cars that feel cramped and dark.
Overall, this is an excellent interior, with its mix of leather, wood, and other high end finishes you’d expect from a Chrysler. It will be a great place to sit and watch the miles roll by.
The Exterior
• Bare metal respray during restoration
• Chrome features are in great condition
• Beautiful wire wheels
• Some small areas that may need attention
• Overall amazing condition
The blue over black two-tone paintwork shows off the lines of the Kew 6 beautifully and, with the addition of tasteful chrome work, lovely wire wheels, and oodles of style, it would be a great addition to anyone’s collection.
When the current owner's father acquired this car in 1981 it looked nothing like it does today, thanks to their hard work and dedication it reportedly still looks almost as good today as it did when the restoration finished in 1999. There are only one or two spots on the exterior where the paint is showing its age, with the worst offender being a spot on the driver’s side running board, but overall it presents very well.

This car has been displayed at a number of car shows where it secured the runner up prize on more than one occasion which is a compliment to the work carried out to this car during its restoration. Whoever gets to be the next custodian of this car will be getting a stunning looking automobile.
The Mechanics
• Engine and gearbox were rebuilt 700 miles ago
• New brake lines
• New wiring loom
• Axles have possibly been rebuilt too
• Idles perfectly
Fitted with the straight-six Chrysler flathead engine, the Kew 6 has a huge amount of power when compared to an English alternative from the time. To help transmit this power to the road it has been fitted with a three-speed manual gearbox that allows it to just about keep up with modern-day traffic.
With these two vital components receiving a lot of love during the restoration, the owner reports that they are in full working order and that the car is great out on the open road.
This car is ready for the next owner to enjoy.
Summary
A rare example in great condition, this Kew 6 makes for a lovely and usable vintage car.
