The Appeal
What a car. The versatility of Austin’s tiny Seven was proven by the works Tourist Trophy teams at the Ards Circuit. Their success gave birth to one of the greatest variants: the Ulster racer.
This 1932 car began life as a box saloon before being discovered by the current keeper in 1997. It was hidden in a Norfolk barn in a dilapidated state. So began an 11 year transformation into a highly detailed Ulster racer. The polished aluminium body was supplied by renowned specialist Rod Yates - it is number 61 - and the engine, gearbox and chassis were rebuilt and prepared by Pigsty Engineering, another name that will please marque enthusiasts.
The car was finished in late 2008. The plan was to compete in the 750 Series but instead it has been enjoyed very sparingly - the mileage now is under 2,400 miles - on local roads. A legacy of that plan is a choice of road and race wheels.
This is a truly exquisite Ulster that shows the love and care lavished upon it by the enthusiast keeper. It is now ready for its second keeper and comes with a thick history file. It looks enticing and promises to be thrilling.
