The Appeal
Like many of Europe's pioneering motor car manufacturers, Hotchkiss began as an arms manufacturer. At the turn of the century, it started manufacturing components for De Dion Bouton and Panhard et Levassor and, by 1903, had its own car in production. Built in Saint-Denis, Paris, Hotchkiss' automobiles soon garnered a reputation for their superb build quality and luxurious appointments. From 1929, Hotchkiss manufactured its own pressed steel bodies, introducing what would become known as the AM series.
We're delighted to offer this AM2 Chantilly Saloon from 1930. A supremely handsome motor car showcasing what was then the very latest in French style and technology. This rare survivor showcases an impressive lineage of care and thoughtful restoration. The vendor informs us that the car has received numerous enhancements, ensuring reliability without compromising its historical value.
From the running boards to the spare wheels and luggage box on the back, it’s the quintessential '30s classic. The design only gets better on the inside; the intricately patterned red interior offers an abundance of both style and comfort, and with its generous proportions, the car is perfectly suited to longer touring in comfort.
