The Appeal
The Model T revolutionised transport so expectations were set very high for its successor, the Model A. The new car certainly delivered with a million sold in the first year.
It was notably more modern. The pedals and gearbox were conventionally arranged and there was smoother styling by Ford’s son Edsel (although Henry naturally took the credit). The vast array of body styles made it suitable for whatever priorities buyers brought into Ford showrooms.
This fantastic 1930 Pick Up arrived in the UK from Chicago in 2008. It was comprehensively restored by a model specialist on arrival, subsequently receiving its appropriate ‘Al Capone’ trimmings. Finished in what we are told is the original colour it is very faithful to factory specification.
The owner, a former garage proprietor, is trimming down his collection and says the Ford has been entirely reliable. It could be used as a classic car show visitor magnet or distinctive workhorse. Whichever way the future for this lovely truck goes, we wish it well on its journey.
