The Appeal

Arriving on the scene right at the peak of the private automobile ownership boom, the perhaps questionably named Studebaker Dictator filled an open gap in the legendary marque’s lineup, providing a quality, impressively luxurious automobile at a solid mid range price point, cementing the brand as one of the all time great American car makers; the ones to go to if you wanted Cadillac quality at Chevrolet prices.
This Dictator four door sedan hails from the very first year of the coveted model’s production, the 1927 model presents well, having been lovingly cared for and preserved as part of a vintage fleet of wedding cars. This is certainly a car that lends itself well to that role but is one that would be equally at home under private use as a true, honest piece of American automotive history.
