THE APPEAL
Built in the same year the BBC was born and the first transatlantic phone call was made, this Singer Senior 10/26 is a 95 year old piece of automotive history. It has been tweaked slightly from its original factory set up, with an 1100cc ‘A series’ four-speed engine plus a gearbox from an Austin A30 which allows for a more enjoyable and reliable drive.
This modification takes nothing away from the car, which is a real attention magnet, thanks to its charming looks and classic 1920’s styling, a perfect vehicle for transporting the happy couple on their wedding day.

THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK
- V5c present
- Minor history
- Prior restoration
- Fresh MOT that expires on the 08/04/2023
Included with the car is little information on its history, however you will get a few invoices for a couple recent jobs such as a fuel pump plus a few photos of the car prior to its restoration which was carried out prior to the current and last ownership.
THE INTERIOR
- Great condition throughout
- Grey leather seats
- Gear selector relocated
- All original dash instruments available with the car
The overall condition inside the vehicle is very good. Grey leather seats are in fine order, with the fronts now fitted with a more modern slide adjustment to help with the rear seat access. The wood dash has been fitted with non factory dials and gauges however they match the cars character well.
The gear knob from the factory was located by the drivers right side, to ensure no accidental contact to any female passengers, charming however very impractical, especially getting in and out of the vehicle! The current owner relocated the shifter to the middle when the gear was changed. It's a very pleasant car to be in, both behind the wheel or as a passenger, with moderate space for those in front or behind.

THE EXTERIOR
- Charming colour
- Subtle LED indicators
- Fair condition with only a few blemishes
Painted in a pale blue mixed with a grey lower and upper body, the car is in pleasant appearance with only a few blemishes present which have been photographed. The colour scheme works lovely with the brass trims and wooden side boards, she’s a real head turner, with many people commenting on its beauty during our visit.
The black wheels have a couple scuffs but nothing too noticeable and tyres look in great condition. A restoration was carried out, part of which was photographed, the extent and details of which are unknown but this 95 year old vehicle is looking very good for its age.

THE MECHANICS
- Fitted with rebuilt A series engine
- Austin A30 gearbox
- Original engine and gearbox included
- MOT until 2023
During our visit the car was started and manoeuvred without any dramatics, the replacement A series engine was installed to ensure reliability as the original 95 year old engine was water cooled and worked on a thermal syphon which would overheat in modern day traffic, not ideal if you’ve got the newly married Mr & Mrs in the back!
New pistons, valve springs, block skims and a new oil pump were all fitted with the conversion as was a kenlow cooling fan and stealth alternator. The seller has indicated that the gearbox is noisy and will need at some point replacing but will include a rebuilt one for the new owner.

SUMMARY
Almost a century has passed since this little charming bit of aluminium and wood left the Singer motors factory floor, it’s an impressive piece of history with a modernised running gear to help the old girl keep up with the youngsters.
