1910 Talbot Type AB Engine

The Engine

If you’re restoring an early Talbot or building an Edwardian special, this engine could well be the missing piece of the jigsaw.
This 1910 Talbot Type AB engine (no. 619) was one of the most advanced four-cylinder units of its day, with a twin-plug head and 2.4-litre displacement. Top-speed in period was of course coachwork-dependent, but in a lightly built motorcar with sufficiently tall gearing,  this engine was reportedly capable of around 50 mph. It’s very rare such early Talbot engines come to market, especially those not in a derelict state. It has reportedly spent a long period in dry storage and has since been shipped from New Zealand.  It is supplied with Dutch importation documentation and all duties paid.

The Condition

This engine has been inspected by the vendor’s Dutch workshop where it has been found to be in good, serviceable condition. Although not yet ready to run, we understand it to be turning freely and we’re assured that the internals appear in very good shape. As the photographs show, it has been cleaned up very nicely on the outside with smart paintwork and polished bare metal surfaces. It is fitted with spark plugs and various ancillaries a shown.
