Former Abbott Racing 900 Turbo Production Saloon Championship car, driven by Lionel Abbott. Race history includes:- 94 BARC/ Willhire UK production car championship (which it won), 95, 96, 97 BRDC Saloons 2000 Championship, Willhire and Nurburgring 24 hour endurance races.
The car has now been fully re-built and restored as a track day car at a cost of £20, 000.
I am a track day enthusiast, and long term customer of Abbott Racing. I commissioned this car just before leaving for France, where I now live, and hoped to have some continuing enjoyment with it. Unfortunately, the track day culture is not the same here, and regrettably, the car is just not being used. It has only done approx 10 laps of Goodwood for setting up just prior to leaving the UK. I have therefore decided, reluctantly, to sell it.
The rebuild was undertaken at Abbotts works over a period of six months by their senior engineer, and nothing was left to chance. Everything is new. Briefly, the spec is as follows.
2. 3L low compression Carlson engine with 320bhp (adjustable)
New modified gearbox with final drive set to max 150mph.
All new adjustable suspension plus two set wheels/ tyres.
Fully welded body with substantial integral roll cage picking up all suspension points. Torsional stiffness approx 17, 500 ft lbs giving it handling characteristics way beyond any modified road car.
Weight approx 1050 kilos giving approx 305bhp/ tonne.
Custom built induction with T4 turbo, large crossflow intercooler and Water/ Methanol injection.
Car is being sold including its Galvanised four wheel braked tilt bed trailer, with wheel carrier, and two covers (dust and all weather). Two sets of wheels/ tyres are also included. Yokohama semi slicks (dry) and Dunlop SP sport (track only wets), both on their original Compomotive rims.
A fuller spec and photos are available on request, and its sister car (normally aspirated) can still be viewed at Abbott's works in Essex.
This is a superb and very fast car for track events, and has a genuine race history. The car would also qualify for the BARC "Classic Thunder" series and has been built to ensure ease and economy of maintenance. Full support is available from Abbott Racing.
Although designed to be for track only use, the car can be road legal with only minor additions. The Yokohama semi-slicks are road legal.
I may also be interested in an exchange for two Enduro style motorbikes. One would have to be 125cc and the other 350-500cc. Both would need to be in faultless condition. This could be a straight swap. Preferred makes would be KTM or Yamaha, but any reputable make would be considered.
