Description
1968 Land Rover Series 2A Short Wheel Base Petrol, original narrow headlight, finished in light Pastel Green with Limestone roof and wheels. I have owned this land Rover for the past 15 years, it has been used regularly and been continually taxed (historic free tax) MOT’d and Serviced to go anywhere at any time.
Prior to my ownership it had two new door tops fitted and good quality repairs carried out to the chassis, bulkhead and foot well areas and a new rear chassis section was fitted.
My first job, when I purchased it was to completely steam clean and check over the vehicle. I have kept it continually wax oiled and oiled both chassis and bulkhead internally and externally, therefore there has been no need of any other structural repairs during my ownership.
I have a file of receipts in my ownership and MOT’s going back to July 1994 showing its limited annual mileage. The speedo currently reads 50, 463 as of the recent MOT test but there is no guarantee of its total mileage. I have covered 10, 000 miles during my ownership. I also have a DVLA history record of its previous owners and a Haynes service and repair manual.
This is a very original, unmolested Series 2A Petrol with full hard top with large windows fitted to give excellent visibility with a safari rear door and folding rear step. It will carry 7 people, 3 up front and 4 on the twin rear folding seats. It has 2 front sun visors. It has the original design round smiths heater fitted on the bulkhead. The front axle has free wheeling hubs. It has a 50mm tow ball and 7 pin electric socket on the rear and a 50mm tow ball on the front bumper. It is currently fitted with 205x16 radials and has spare wheel mountings on the bonnet, rear door and internally.
In 1996 the clutch was replaced, about 9, 000 miles ago and at the same time a new fuel tank was fitted.
The green was re-painted in 2009 and fitted with new bulkhead vent seals and drivers door window channels. All the doors lock for security.
It has just been MOT tested, so it is valid until July 2011 with Historic Road Tax until the end of November. I have just completed a full service on it. It had a new battery in January of this year. I run it on unleaded fuel with an additive.
I have used and improved this Land Rover over my long ownership with receipts on file. Due to a change of circumstance and lack of use nowadays, only 250 miles between the last MOT’s, I have regrettably decided to sell what has been a very reliable and trusty ‘workhorse’. It drives very well, everything works as it should. REMEMBER IT IS A 42 YEAR OLD LAND ROVER. It has minor imperfections on the bodywork and one small dent on the o/ s/ r wing. The interior is clean and tidy with a small tear on the drivers, passengers and central front seat. I have tried to show these in the pictures and removed the front mats to show the foot wells.
I have the original de-lux panels for both front doors, requiring minor repairs to refit them, two original front seat bases which I kept when I bought new ones and a small selection of mechanic spares. Two shot blasted and primed lwb wide rim wheels and three spare 205x16 radials and both green and limestone paint to match. Please telephone or email if you would like any more details or photographs.
