The escort has been stored in dry garage and has been stored there all its life.
When I bought it as with most escorts it had a lot of rust on it. The whole car and a lot of parts where sandblasted to show any weak spots and then it was coated it red oxide/ etch primer. I put have spent about £800 on panels including to front wings, both floor panels, inner and outer a posts and steel bubble arches all round which are the only thing that isn’t original. Rear panel, front panel, petrol tank panel and where the spare wheel goes. The welding of the panels where professional completed by a company called ‘Orchard restorations’ and then when I had to save for the rest of it was completed by Graham Standing who finished it to a very high standard. \this cost well over £1500.
It then was sent to ‘Orchard Restorations’ to be primed and sprayed. The car was primed and sprayed to an exceptionally high standard including being baked in an oven. This cost well over £3000. This maybe be the best ‘paint job’ I have seen on an escort. Much better than it ever was when it left the factory!
I have all spent well over £2000 on parts for the escort and I wanted to get new parts for a lot of it. All parts that have been fitted have been painted a number of times it has a lot of the running gear fitted all ready. It is a rolling Chassis without wheels at the moment. All parts have polyurethane bushes. Gearbox box has been checked over and is fitted. Back axle and has been stripped and rebuilt. New brake pads, shocks pretty much all of the underneath is new or rebuilt way too much to list.
The engine hasn’t been stripped. In fact to my knowledge the engine is the original engine and has never been touched or modified. It turned over by hand when I bought the car as well. I have bought a new clutch kit for it but it has not been fitted.
It has all the windows which aren’t scratched, I have a lot of the interior including the back seat, and it has a new roof lining, ready to go in. The original six dial dash, all the original switches and a lot more.
The wiring loom has been rebuilt checked and fitted. The brake and clutch linings are all fitted.
There is a lot more that has been spent and that I have completed on the car, this is an original MK1 Escort Mexico and is registered with the AVO Club where a lot of the parts came from.
