The Appeal

The E-Type is perhaps the most recognisable British car of all time. With classic good looks and a glorious 4.2-litre straight-six engine up front it’s easy to see why they are so well loved and sought after. This E-Type roadster has been restored to the highest of standards and presents superbly throughout. Rebuilt, resprayed and retrimmed it’s as close to new as you can get for an almost 60 year old car. Following the restoration it was kept as part of a large collection of classic Jaguars and has covered essentially no miles since. Now in preparation for sale the car has been professionally recommissioned and fully serviced, ready to enjoy.
The sumptuous interior is in fantastic unused condition and offers one of the best classic car driving experiences to be found. As well as being a joy to drive the E-Type is also widely regarded as being one of the best looking cars and finished in British Racing Green with a new biscuit mohair hood this has to be one of the best examples around.

  • All of the door handles, door cards, trim and accessories present superbly
Sliding down behind the big wood and chrome wheel and looking down the long bonnet of this Jaguar you instantly get a feeling for why these cars are so well loved. With plush retrimmed biscuit seats and thick matching carpeting the inside of this E-Type is every bit the luxury tourer. The seats show no signs of use, look fantastic in biscuit and are exquisitely comfortable. The entire interior presents perfectly with no wear whatsoever, making this E-Type one of the best we have seen.

The Exterior

  • Classic E-Type design
  • Looks fantastic finished in British Racing Green
  • New mohair hood
  • Chrome wire wheels are in perfect condition
  • Bare metal restoration - media blasted, rust-proofed and rebuilt with “cad dipped” bolts/washers
  • All of the brightwork has either been replaced or re-chromed as part of the restoration and it is all in excellent condition
  • Badges, windows, lights and trim all present excellently
The iconic E-Type is one of those cars that looks good from every angle and finished in British Racing Green with the chrome spoked wheels and mohair biscuit hood this one looks simply fantastic. Whilst we don’t have much in the way of invoices for the car, it’s evident from the first moment you lay eyes on it (and the restoration record) that it has been restored to the highest of standards. As with the interior the outside of this E-Type is in exceptional condition with nothing hinting at its age aside from the classic design, which still looks as good today as it did nearly 60 years ago. If you’re looking for a show ready E-Type, this is it.

The Mechanics

  • Fully rebuilt engine as part of the restoration
  • Reground crankshaft with new bearings
  • Rebore with new matching pistons
  • Overhauled cylinder head with new valve guides and hardened valve seats
  • New timing chain and sprockets
  • Carburettors stripped and rebuilt with new gaskets
  • Gearbox and differential  both fully overhauled with new bearings and seals
  • Totally re-wired
  • Koni Shock absorbers
  • The brakes have had the callipers rebuilt, the rotors re-machined, new pads, master cylinder, servo, lines and hoses
  • Sounds fantastic through the new twin stainless steel exhaust
  • Starts easily and idles well
  • No unwanted noises
  • Drives very well, accelerating quickly, shifting easily and stopping rapidly
  • Engine, engine bay and underside all present as new
You can't help but smile at the sound of the big straight-six coming to life through the stainless twin pipe exhaust. The engine is immaculate along with the rest of the engine bay thanks to the extensive work carried out as part of the restoration, with almost every part looking new. The engine starts easily on a push of the button and idles beautifully with no unwanted noises whatsoever. As would be expected with the work listed above and from the obvious excellent condition of the car, it drives perfectly; accelerating well, shifting smoothly and stopping quickly.

Summary

This E-Type is in immaculate condition throughout having been restored to an exceptionally high standard and not having been used since. Both the interior and exterior along with all of the mechanical components look like they have just left the factory.
There are few experiences that compare to dropping the hood on a sunny day and hearing the straight-six of the big cat roar as you cruise down country roads. If you’re looking for the perfect E-Type, look no further, this is it.
